Pin piles, or micro piles, are small-diameter piles that can be installed in a variety of soils, such as loose, granular soils, plastic clay soils or in areas with sporadic subsurface boulders. They’re ideal for projects with restricted space or low headroom and are often used in new construction, remediation, or enhancement projects.
Pin piles are installed using water flush rotary drilling or rotary percussion drilling techniques. They’re comprised of steel casing in various thicknesses, an inner steel core and high-strength grout. They’re often paired with tiebacks for greater lateral support of existing structures.
